How shared IP pools actually work
When you send through an ESP (email service provider) on a shared IP, your mail goes out from an IP address shared with hundreds or thousands of other customers. The ESP manages that pool's reputation as an asset, because their business depends on it.
Good ESPs run tiered pools. They score customers on complaint rates, bounce rates, and engagement, then sort them:
